Jump Up

Every Friday night the quiet fishing village of Gros Islet becomes the main island attraction as the streets are closed off to traffic and become home to the island’s most festive street party. The name, “Jump up” is fitting since you will want to jump up and dance as speakers are blaring Soca, Reggae and Caribbean music. Vendors sell food such as barbequed chicken, fresh conch and local drinks. Locals and tourists join the party alike, which begins around 9 and lasts until well after midnight.

In the month of May St. Lucia hosts the one of the top two jazz festivals in the world and the second largest event in the Caribbean.  Since it's inception in 1992 the St. Lucia Jazz Festival has grown in size and stature and encompasses multiple shows of acoustic jazz, rhythm, new age and blues.

Each March St. Lucia takes part in the World Cup Cricket tournament.  The event is held in the Beausejour Stadium in Gros Islet which holds 21, 000 people.
